Maine:
Hidden in the hilly back woods of a small town in Maine, is the headquarters for a barely known organization that was developed just after the horrendous attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001. UACT (United American Civil Taskforce) started out with assisting citizens in education for emergency and disaster preparedness. At first steering concerned citizens and volunteers to the various training sources and helpful information in the form of free booklets and pamphlets. And UACT is now developing a program to be used nationwide to help organize community preparedness teams across the country to assist with all types of emergencies and disasters including those that are terror related. Helping the average American and their community prepare for the war on terror.
Through the years a new addition has been developed. The Anti Terrorism Division. Here the members are not quite your average Joe or Jane. Most are former and active military, law enforcement and emergency management personnel and intelligence people with training in emergencies and disasters and in Anti and Counter Terrorism. Intelligence information is passed between the members and analyzed to compare with the latest terrorism threat matrix. Members have worked with agents from the FBI and assist in Homeland Security passing crucial information to help investigate and arrest terrorists who may here in the U.S. illegally and possibly part of a sleeper cell in what has been publicized as a possible the terrorist underground network.
The UACT Anti Terrorism Division is now in the business of fighting terrorism alongside the U.S. Military and Law Enforcement agencies throughout America and Internationally. But, their volunteers are still focused on assisting the average American household and community with the information and resources they have available to prepare for terrorist events and any type of disaster or emergency. UACT is now developing what is known as the CEPT Program (Community Emergency Preparedness Teams) in hopes of building these teams nationally to help them and every community nationwide prepare for the war on terror.
To think that somewhere in the hilly back woods of Maine there is an office that directs such a counter terror operation and elite training for the twenty first century warrior just goes to prove that even in the remotest parts of our nation, the war on terror is being fought to keep our freedoms and liberties and to help keep the next generation of Americans and people of every friendly nation safe and secure.
